ABOUT DIAMOND CATS CAMP
Founded in 2022 by Woodside High School Head Coach Alexa Daines and Assistant Coach Christina Daines, Diamond Cats Camp was built on a vision of combining high-level softball instruction with a fun, team-focused atmosphere. Designed for players of all ages and skill levels, our camp challenges athletes to compete, improve, and push their limits—all while forming meaningful friendships and unforgettable memories.
Whether it’s mastering fundamentals, sharpening advanced techniques, or going head-to-head in competitive games, our players thrive in an environment that values growth through competition and teamwork. Join us as we play hard, learn with purpose, and grow stronger—together.
MEET THE COACHES
Founder
Alexa Daines
Coach Alexa was a 4 year varsity starter at Carlmont playing first base where she was a Team Captain, MVP, Player of the Year, and earned First Team All League honors 3x and Second Team All League once. She was the JV head coach at Woodside for 2 seasons and has been the varsity head coach for 10 seasons.

Christina Daines (Patton)
Coach Christina was a 3 year varsity starter at Woodside as a pitcher where she was a Team Captain, MVP, Pitcher of the Year, and earned First Team All League honors 2x and Second Team All League once. She went on to pitch at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs for 4 years where she earned RMAC All Academic Honor Roll. She has been the varsity assistant coach at Woodside for 8 seasons.
Head Coach
Megan Barstad
Coach Megan is a 2021 Woodside graduate and was a 4 year varsity starter as a catcher where she earned Second Team All League honors. She went on to catch at CSM for 2 years where she earned First Team All Coast Conference, First Team All State, Academic All State, and was inducted into the CSM Hall of Fame. She is an assistant coach at Woodside and has been coaching with DCC since 2022.

Kayla Wayne
Coach Kayla is a 2024 Woodside graduate and starting outfielder. She is currently attending San Jose State University and has come back to coach the Wildcats for the past 2 seasons. She has been coaching with DCC since 2025.

Kelly Baek
Coach Kelly is a 2024 Woodside graduate and a 4 year varsity starter at first base. She earned MVP and Wildcat awards as well as First Team All League honors. She has been coaching with DCC since 2024.

Lacey Barstad
Coach Lacey is a 2025 Woodside graduate and a 3 year varsity starter as a catcher, but has also played third base, second base, and outfield. She earned Golden Glove honors and has been coaching with DCC since 2024.

Vanessa Carlos
Coach Vanessa will be a 2026 Woodside graduate and is a 3 year varsity starter both catching and in the outfield. She brings an incredible energy to the sport and has earned the Wildcat award and Second Team All League honors. She has been coaching with DCC since 2025.

Coach Brooke is a 2023 Woodside graduate and a 3 year varsity starter as a pitcher, second baseman, and outfielder. She earned MVP and Honorable Mention All League honors. She has been coaching with DCC since 2022.

Coach Ellie will be a 2026 Woodside graduate and was the starting first baseman for the Wildcats this past season. She has been coaching with DCC since 2025.
